Deanne Curnew Ms. Curnew is a Nurse Educator within Eastern Health, who is currently enrolled in the PhD Nursing program at Memorial University. Deanne will examine the degree to which undergraduate programs across Canada prepare registered nurses to practice within primary health care. She hopes her research will contribute to improvements within the Newfoundland and Labrador health-care system, particularly in relation to health-care services access and continuity of care for individuals with chronic and complex health conditions.
Jennifer Bent Ms. Bent is currently a graduate student completing the Master of Science in Medicine (Community Health) at Memorial University. Jennifer’s’ thesis has a focus that will explore the challenges and opportunities in the pre-diagnosis cancer journey for Indigenous cancer patients in Newfoundland and Labrador. She hopes her research will enhance cancer care services for individuals residing in Indigenous communities and address the growing number of cancer diagnoses among Indigenous peoples.
