OHS Committee

Eastern Health has established site-based occupational health and safety (OHS) committees where there are 10 or more workers at the workplace, and worker health and safety representatives where there are fewer than 10workers.

OH&S Committees are required to meet at least every 90 days, as per provincial Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, and post minutes in a prominent area (i.e. Occupational Health & Safety bulletin board) for staff to view.

As an industry best practice, we have also established a regional OHS committee which includes representatives from the St. John’s area, Rural Avalon and Peninsulas, whose members attend to regional matters.

For more information, please contact your OHS representative, or email mysafety@easternhealth.ca.
