The IPAC nurses provide expert knowledge and advice to departments in various areas of Eastern Health to assist in problem solving, as well as writing policies and guidelines aimed at providing the best quality care for patients, clients and residents.

Protocols, guidelines, and recommendations are based on best practice standards, scientific evidence and national and international guidelines.

Research

The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program is part of a network of Canadian healthcare facilities from across the country that collect data for the Public Health Agency of Canada.

We also participate in research and process improvement projects within Eastern Health which focus on improving the quality and safety of care delivery.
