This historic hospital located on Waterford Bridge Road in St. John’s was first opened in 1855, and named the Waterford Hospital in 1972. The Waterford Hospital primarily provides support and services to people living and working each day with mental illness, addictions and mental health issues.
In 2024 the Waterford Hospital will be closing its doors and relocating to the New Adult Mental Health Acute Facility. Working together with patients, families, primary care physicians and community support groups, our interdisciplinary team will continue to work to help improve our patients’ quality of life so they can reach their highest possible level of recovery.
