Provincial Services

The Janeway Lifestyle Program (JLP) works provincially with referred children and their families, in each region of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Travelling Consultation Clinic (TCC)
The Janeway Lifestyle Program (JLP) works with health-care professionals who treat children at risk of developing a chronic disease.  The JLP travels to each regional health authority in the province every 18 months.

Our traveling consultation service offers:

  • a multidisciplinary assessment of the referred children;
  • a written summary and feedback to the families and referring health-care professional;
  • a follow-up consultation, including telehealth as appropriate; and
  • specific resources to help with the on-going care of referred children.
For more information, click on the TCC Referral Formthe handout for health professionals or our brochure for families.
Good Health for EveryBODY (GHEB) Program

The GHEB is a parent education program developed by the JLP for community leaders in each region. The program is available to parents of preschoolers in all areas of Newfoundland and Labrador.

GHEB is:

  • culturally specific to Newfoundland and Labrador;
  • appropriate for all families;
  • holistic - eat well, be active, feel good;
  • focused on prevention of chronic diseases; and
  • body positive.

The JLP also provides training in the most up-to-date research in preventing chronic diseases. This includes a comprehensive multimedia toolkit to offer parents in their home community. We also provide consultation to facilitators in addressing questions families may have.

Click on the GHEB Handout and GHEB Registration Form for more information.
