Paramedic Services

Eastern Health operates two paramedic services:
Metro Paramedic Services (MPS)
The Metro Paramedic Services (MPS) provides local road ambulance service for the greater St. John’s Metropolitan Area, which includes:
  • Bauline
  • Flatrock
  • Goulds
  • Kilbride
  • Logy Bay
  • Maddox Cove
  • Mount Pearl
  • Other Cove
  • Paradise
  • Petty Harbour
  • Portugal Cove
  • Shoe Cove
  • St. John’s
  • St. Phillips
  • Torbay
  • Witless Bay

MPS is staffed with primary and advanced care paramedics capable of bringing quality medical care right to your door step.

This service operates out of three locations; the main base is located at the Health Sciences Centre; satellite station one is located on Majors Path in the east end of St. John’s; and satellite station two is located near the intersection of Farrell Drive and Topsail Road in Mount Pearl. 

MPS performs approximately 22,000 patient transports per year, which is approximately 1/3 of the total provincial road ambulance transport volume.

Carbonear Paramedic Services
Carbonear Paramedic Services provides local road ambulance service for the town of Carbonear and surrounding areas, including:
  • Bristols Hope
  • Broad Cove
  • Carbonear
  • Freshwater, Carbonear
  • Harbour Grace
  • Perrys Cove
  • Salmon Cove
  • Small Point
  • Spout Cove
  • Victoria

The Carbonear service is staffed by primary care paramedics and is based out of the Carbonear General Hospital. On average, Carbonear Paramedic Services perform approximately 1,000 patient transports a year.

How to Access These Services
Paramedic Services for the St. John’s Metropolitan Area can be accessed by contacting the Medical Communication Centre at either:
  • 911 – for emergency service request
  • 709-777-6320 - for routine service requests
  • 1-877-709-1515 – toll free number for routine service requests

Emergency paramedic services for Carbonear should be accessed by contacting 911 while routine calls can be accessed by calling 945-5136.
