Family Presence Advisory Council

Purpose and goals
The purpose of the Family Presence Advisory Council (FPAC) is for Eastern Health to actively engage and partner with patients, residents, clients and families to advance a client- and family-centred approach to visitation
The goal of the council is to recognize families as partners in the patient, resident or client’s care and to ensure that designated support persons are welcome and present to the degree that they wish to participate in the care of their family member or loved one.  
The Family Presence Advisory Council includes:
  • Client and family advisors
  • Carbonear Hospital Auxiliary member
  • Carbonear Hospital Foundation member
  • Physician representative
  • Staff representation from program/service areas
  • Leadership representation Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management representative
  • Client- and Family-Centred Care manager
  • Consultation role included representation from Infrastructure Support, Protection Services, Pastoral Care and Ethics and Planning departments.
