Assessment and Treatment

With consent, a therapeutic recreation assessment will be completed to determine what therapeutic recreation services  will be provided to you during your stay.

Requests for assessments can be made through the referral process.

Assessment includes an interview with the client, patient, or resident and caregivers regarding concerns and relevant history, and assessment of skills using formal tests/or observations.  Treatment goals and a therapeutic recreation plan of care will then be determined with the client, patient, resident and caregivers.

Treatment may include:

  • Individual or group therapy sessions
  • Care giver education sessions
  • Consultation visits with other service providers

Counseling is also an important part of treatment, especially with helping individuals deal with the impacts that their current condition may be having on their daily living.
