Making the Best Use of Resources
Eastern Health strives for excellence in everything we do, from the care we provide to our clients to the way in which we manage our resources. As a publicly-funded system, we are accountable to offer health care services within available resources, which means maximizing efficiencies without compromising on quality.
Looking back over the last four years, costs in this organization have continued to rise without any substantial increase in patient, resident or client volumes or acuity.
To be a sustainable organization, Eastern Health has to look at how we do things. We are committed to benchmarking Eastern Health against other health care organizations to compare our processes and expenses against others to see if there are ways we can do things more efficiently.
Are we getting the best price possible on supplies, for example? And are we using our human resources most effectively?
We are finding ways to reduce operational costs and to free up resources for strategic priorities and unmet health care needs, and to achieving balanced budgets over the next three years.
