Advisors for Children's Health Services

Client and Family Advisory Council
Recruitment of Volunteer Advisors for Children's Health Services
At Eastern Health, we strive to constantly improve the care our clients receive. Our priority is client- and family-centred care (CFCC) consisting of health care that is respectful, compassionate and focuses on the client and family needs, values and beliefs.
We’re in the process of establishing a client and family advisory council.
To help Eastern Health achieve this level of care, we are seeking volunteers to become client and family advisors. These individuals will provide a voice that represents all clients and families of clients who have received care within the Children and Women’s Health Program (CWHP) – Children's Health Services at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre. In CFCC, the word client also refers to patient and resident.
The Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre is the pediatric tertiary care center for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Our aim is to ensure children and families are recognized as a valuable member of their health-care team.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Client and Family Advisor with the Children and Women’s Health Program - Children's Health Services:
  • Partner with employees and physicians to help improve the quality of care for all clients and family members.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise based experience in the health-care system, or their experience with a family member.

  • Participate in a variety of ways to improve health-care delivery, such as review new policies, provide feedback about facility planning and/or participate in client surveys.
  • Work to improve communication between clients, families and staff of Eastern Health.
The successful candidate must be:
  • A person who has had a care experience with the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre in the past three years and/or the family member of a patient who has received care within the last three years or who is currently having an experience of care within the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre
