Cystic Fibrosis Program

The Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Program for Newfoundland and Labrador is housed at the Health Sciences Complex in St. John’s. Pediatric patients are seen at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre while adult patients are seen at the Health Sciences Centre

The CF program provides a multidisciplinary team approach to care and strives to uphold the standards of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

The CF team consists of:

  • a clinic coordinator;
  • clinical dietician;
  • nurse practitioner;
  • pharmacist;
  • physician;
  • physiotherapist; and
  • social worker.

The program is also supported by other health-care professionals, including respiratory therapists, laboratory professionals and medical specialists.

While the program is based in St. John’s, regular local and traveling clinics provide routine health monitoring to people with CF throughout the province.

In addition to clinic services, the CF Program provides support across the spectrum of life - from new diagnoses or transplant referral, to rehabilitation or assistance with palliative care.

The CF Program provides health-care surveillance and required supplies as per the Provincial Government’s CF Benefits List and the Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program
