Healthy Eating in the Community

Recreation, sport and community settings provide a place for community members of all ages to come together. Whether it is to promote physical activity or to just bring community members closer, it makes sense to also promote healthy eating! By offering healthy choices in these settings we encourage and create opportunities for people to eat healthy.

Providing healthy choices does not have to be complicated. Take a look at what food and beverages you currently offer and follow these guidelines for healthy choices:
  • Choose foods that are included in Canada’s Food Guide.
  • Offer reasonable sized portions.
  • Limit food and beverages high in calories, fat, sugar, or salt.
The goal is to make the healthy choice the easy choice for people where they live, work and play!
