This modern facility, which replaced the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, opened its doors to residents and staff on September 15, 2014.
Pleasant View Towers was chosen as the name of the facility following extensive stakeholder consultation and is representative of the facility’s geographic location, proximity to the Pleasantville area of St. John’s, and because of the scenic views from the towers, which include Quidi Vidi Lake, Signal Hill and Cabot Tower.
The building is comprised of two residential residences joined by a centre block. Each unit houses a mixture of bedroom types: private, semi- private and double rooms.
Special design features include a wandering loop and outside contained garden accessible to residents with dementia requiring protective care. The facility includes space for recreation therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and spiritual care. As well, there is a large recreation area with a games room and exterior garden for young adults with severe physical disabilities.

Admission to this facility is coordinated by the office of placement services.

The new facility is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED©) Certification. The infrastructure incorporates “green” technologies focused on energy and water efficiency, and as well as improved indoor air quality.
