Most parents decide how to feed their baby before they are even pregnant.
Breastfeeding is the healthiest choice for a baby. Breastmilk provides more nutrition than what manufactured formula can offer (no matter what the advertisements claim!) Formula fed babies are more at risk for common childhood illnesses such as chest and ear infections than breastfed babies.

Breastfeeding can sometimes be a challenge, but it is also an important part of your baby's health. Resources are available to support you, to help you to deal with concerns and connect you with services.

In addition to the support of the public health nurse in your area, Breastfeeding Support Groups are also available.  These groups, for breastfeeding women and their infants, are facilitated by public health nurses - no appointment is necessary. Visit a group in your area to discuss breastfeeding tips, issues you may be encountering, or just a time for interaction with other mothers. Mom-to-mom support can make the difference in ensuring a positive breastfeeding experience. Support persons are welcome as well.
