About the JLP

Vision: Good Health for EveryBODY

: To empower all families in Newfoundland and Labrador to be able teat well, be activefeel good and live healthy.

The Janeway Lifestyle Team works with families whose children have been identified as having a risk factor for the development of a chronic disease such as high cholesterol, high blood sugars, high blood pressure, liver disease and weight concerns.

Our health-care professionals include a pediatrician, psychologists, dietitian, social worker, physiotherapist and recreation development specialist.  Through education, intervention and FUN, we promote a healthy lifestyle by eating well, being active, feeling good about yourself and living healthy.

We provide a safe social space and non-judgemental service.  We focus on reducing barriers and improving nutrition, physical activity and self-esteem for all children, to help them enjoy a healthy life for a longer time.

The Janeway LifestyleTeam works locally and provincially with:
1. All parents of preschool children who are interested in learning about raising healthy, happy and active children.
2. Families whose children (aged 2-14 years) have been identified as having a risk factor for the development of a chronic disease.
3. Health-care professionals - to help build capacity in reducing risk factors for the development of chronic disease.
4. Community leaders interested in promoting healthy active living in their home community
