Preventing Falls
Falls can happen to anyone, but as we age we are more at risk of falling.  Depending on how serious it is, a fall can affect your quality of life.

Some of the causes of falls include:

  • Poor balance
  • Decreased  muscle and bone strength
  • Reduced vision or hearing
  • Effects of medications
  • Unsafe conditions in and around your home

You can take steps to reduce your risk of falling. One of the best ways to prevent a fall is through regular physical activity, as outlined by the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines.

You can also find information and advice about preventing falls a the Public Health Agency of Canada website and the websites listed below.
