Canada’s Food Guide

Canada’s Food Guide outlines the types and amounts of food that are part of a healthy eating pattern for people aged two years and older.

Following Canada’s Food Guide will help:

  • Meet your needs for vitamins, minerals and other nutrients
  • Reduce your risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, certain types of cancer and osteoporosis
  • Contribute to your overall health and vitality

Enjoy a variety of foods from the four food groups every day at home, at school, at work and when eating out. Limit foods and beverages high in calories, fat, sugar or salt (sodium).

Check out Canada’s Food Guide website for information and tips on choosing foods, planning meals and much more. The “My Food Guidefeature lets you personalize the information found in the food guide.

The Dietitians of Canada website is another great source of reliable nutrition information.
