Medical Students Orientation

Online orientation

Eastern Health requires that all medical students (postgraduates and clinical clerks) complete Eastern Health's online orientation before they begin work in the organization. The online orientation is offered through Memorial University's Distance Learning platfrom, D2L.
Eastern Health Housestaff Orientation is delivered through a blended format as follows:

Part 1: Online orientation (3-5 hours) - For all medical students. Students are required to complete and return required documents to Eastern Health by the deadline dates specified in the orientation. Please allow sufficient time to complete this work.

Please use the links below to learn more about the online orientation process.

Part 2: Classroom presentations (4 hours) - For non-Memorial University (MUN) students and MUN Postgraduates who have not previously attended these presentations. Clinical clerks are not required to attend classroom presentations. Further information is provided inside the online module.

Site-specific orientations
In addition to completing the general orientations mentioned above, Eastern Health also requires medical students to attend site-specific orientations. Site orientations familiarize students with Eastern Health’s facilities, its services and safety procedures.
Students must attend site orientation for each facility in which they work. It is not necessary to repeat a previously attended site orientation for future rotations.

Note: Orientations must be completed as required. Non–compliance with orientation requirements could potentially affect medical students’ clinical studies at Eastern Health.
