Resident and Family Advisory Council

Background

At Eastern Health, we strive to constantly improve the care our clients receive. Our priority is client- and family-centred care (CFCC) consisting of health care that is respectful, compassionate and focuses on the client and family needs, values and beliefs.

We’re in the process of establishing a Resident and Family advisory council.

To help Eastern Health achieve this level of care, we are seeking volunteers to become resident and family advisors. These individuals will provide a voice that represents all residents and families of residents who have received care within the long term care program. This council will be made up of six selected resident and family/caregiver volunteers from the Eastern Health region. Representation will be regional with two members from St. John’s and region, two members from Rural Avalon and two members from the Peninsulas region. Representatives of the Long Term Care Program will be the Regional Director of Long Term Care who will lead the Council as well as two other LTC employees. Resident and family/caregiver volunteers will be asked to serve a two year term.

Resident and family advisors partner with employees and physicians to help improve the quality of care for all residents and family members.

Roles and Responsibilities of Resident and Family Advisor with the Long Term Care Program:
