Mobile Crisis Response

The Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) Team travels as a team to assist/intervene with a mental health-related crisis, in a person’s home or community. The team has significant experience in mental health. In addition, Mobile Crisis Response are able to accompany other health-care providers in clients/patient community visits.
The Team
  • Registered nurses
  • Licensed practical nurses 
  • Social workers 
Crisis can include, but is not limited to:
  • Relationships with family or friends
  • Addiction issues
  • Financial difficulties
  • School or work stress
  • Grief or loss
  • Abuse or traumatic events
  • Illness
Hours of operation
MCR is an extension to other emergency mental health services that currently exist in the St. John’s Metro area and can be accessed, as required, through the Mental Health Crisis Line (Provincial Service), the Psychiatric Emergency Service at the Health Sciences Centre and the Psychiatric Assessment Unit at the Waterford Hospital.

The Crisis Line provides 24-hour telephone-based crisis intervention by professionally trained Crisis Interveners. The confidential service is available across Newfoundland and Labrador, to anyone in crisis, as well as their caregivers or loved ones.
