Volunteer Appreciation Week 2016

A thank-you message from President and CEO David Diamond to Eastern Health volunteers

It takes a special kind of person to give of themselves freely in our busy work environments. This past year, more than 1,500 Eastern Health volunteers donated tens of thousands of hours to our patients, clients and residents and contributed financially to our organization through gift shops and fundraisers.

Volunteers from all walks of life enter our facilities each day sharing their unique talents and assisting in a wide range of activities including:
  • Visiting with patients or residents at the bedside.
  • Taking part in volunteer-based community health programs or associations.
  • Providing comfort to patients and their families.
  • Working with one of Eastern Health’s auxiliaries.

The stories of how our volunteers at Eastern Health improve the lives of our patients, clients and residents and support the work we do are both enriching and empowering. What may seem like a routine task for some can sometimes have a lifelong impact for the person benefitting from a volunteer’s generosity.

On behalf of Eastern Health, I wish to thank all the volunteers for the exceptional care and service they provide, and for sharing their time and talents in helping to bring our vision, Healthy People, Healthy Communities, to life.

Many of us interact and work with volunteers and experience their generosity on a daily basis. Please take some time to acknowledge the volunteers in your area for their contribution to the health-care experience of our patients, clients and residents.
David Diamond,
President and CEO, Eastern Health
