Is there a baby in your future?

Check out the B4UR Pregnant Booklet for answers to your questions about parenting, nutrition, healthy living and much more!

Listed below is just a sample of the topics covered in the booklet.

Parenting
Do I know how much a child will change my life? Talk to your partner, family, friends and other parents about the joys and challenges of parenting. Start discussing how you might deal with the emotional, physical and financial changes that parenthood brings.

Nutrition
Do I eat healthy meals and snacks most of the time? A daily balance of fruit, vegetables, grains, dairy products and protein foods, for both men and women, help build healthy sperm and eggs.

Physical Activity
Do I get enough physical activity every week? You should be physically active for at least 150 minutes per week, in bouts of 10 minutes or more.

Caffeine, Drugs and Alcohol
Do I need to cut back on the amount of coffee that I drink? Too much caffeine may result in a baby being born underweight. It is important to limit your intake of caffeine in you are planning a pregnancy.

Smoking
Do I smoke? Quitting smoking is a big step, it’s not easy but it is the best thing you can do for you. Smoking when you are pregnant has been linked to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Family and Friends
Do I know the health history of my family and my partner? Health problems can be passed on through families. Find out the medical histories on both sides of the family.

Breastfeeding
Have I thought about the risks of formula feeding?  Formula fed babies are more at risk for common childhood illnesses such as chest and ear infections than breastfed babies.
