As the largest integrated health authority in Newfoundland and Labrador, Eastern Health serves a regional population of more than 300,000 and provides the full continuum of health and community services, including public health, long-term care, community services and hospital care. A Regional Health Authority (RHA) is an administrative body that is responsible for the delivery, administration and assessment of health and community services in a specified area. We are governed by the Regional Health Authorities Act, under the direction of the Minister of Health, and are accountable to:
promote and protect the health and well-being of our region
assess health and community services needs on an ongoing basis
develop objectives and priorities
manage and allocate resources and funds
collaborate with others to achieve priorities
collect and analyze health data
keep the public informed
monitor and evaluate success
comply with directions from the Minister
