Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Services

The Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Program provides adult inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services as part of the continuum of services offered by Eastern Health. The program is located at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre in St. John’s.

The rehabilitation program aims to assist people disabled by injury or disease to reach and maintain their best possible level of physical, intellectual, psychological and social functioning. Through therapeutic interventions, rehabilitation provides people with the skills and tools they need to attain and/or maintain independence.

Rehabilitation services at the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre take an integrated team approach. The patient is the centre of the team and takes an active role in decision making about his/her program. The interdisciplinary team includes nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech language pathologists, psychologists, recreational specialists, clinical nutritionists, and social workers. Members of the interdisciplinary team work with the patient and family to set individualized goals for improvement.
