Eastern Health supports research within the organization. The Research Proposals Approval Committee (RPAC) exists to approve and monitor research projects taking place throughout Eastern Health.

All research taking place with Eastern Health is required to have both HREA (Health Research Ethics Authority) and RPAC approval.

The RPAC committee meets monthly to review all new research proposals that have been approved by the ethics committee. The application is reviewed with attention to resource utilization and impact on the organization, issues of stewardship of biologic samples and protection of patient/employee privacy and confidentiality.
