Safety
Fire drills are practiced regularly. If the fire alarm rings, please stay where you are and don’t panic. Hospital staff have certain procedures they follow in the event of a fire. Nursing staff will close all windows and doors as part of their routine procedure when the alarm sounds. When the drill is over, your door will be opened.
Each patient bed has a call bell cord. All patient washrooms have a call button on the wall near the toilet. These are for use by patients or visitors when assistance is required. Side rails may be used during your stay. If side rails are used, call the nurse for help to get up.
Room Accomodation
For medical reasons, you may be required to change your room accommodations as assigned upon admission. This would be discussed with you by the nursing staff.
Meals
Breakfast, dinner and supper and any required snacks are provided daily.
The dietary staff offer great tasting regular, diabetic and healthy heart diets using highly nutritional recipes.
Dietary staff follow the guidelines ordered by the Dietitian or physician.
In the case a patient dislikes the choice offered, the dietary staff will substitute another meal as requested by the patient or nursing staff.
A dietitian may visit you and your family to provide information on how your eating habits can improve your medical condition. Education may be given on appropriate food choices and cooking methods. A dietitian will assess a patient’s nutrition requirement and make suggestions if the patient is not eating well or cannot eat.
