Harbour Lodge Nursing Home is a 127-bed long term care facility, which includes respite and palliative care, located in Carbonear.  There is 24 hour nursing and medical care to Level II and Level III residents and 14 beds located on the protective care unit. The home is part of allied health services that is shared with other sites in the region and has regional and site specific support services.

History 

Harbour Lodge Nursing Home is a fully accredited Long-Term Care Facility.  This facility has a bed capacity of 127, including two family centered care beds that are used for Palliative and Respite purposes. The Facility was opened August 16, 1971 and now serves the needs of:

1. Extended Bed Care
2. Frail Elderly
3. Psycho-geriatric
4. Mentally Delayed

Harbour Lodge Nursing Home is owned by the Provincial Government.

Our aim is to provide the treatment, care, help and support necessary so that residents can regain and maintain the highest degree of health and independence possible, enabling them to live a normal and happy life as may be achieved within their limitations with dignity and respect.

We encourage communication, input and participation in resident care by family members, the community and residents themselves, recognizing and respecting the rights and individuality of each resident.

Persons interested in making application to the Home should contact any Eastern Health and Community Services Office.

Prospective applicants and/or their families are encouraged to attend an orientation session, by appointment, with the Social Worker at Harbour Lodge Nursing Home to view the Home and its facilities and to clarify any questions or concerns.
