PLACENTIA HEALTH CENTRE
The Placentia Health Centre has a 10 bed acute care hospital and provides in-patient and out-patient medical care. Routine laboratory and radiology services are available on site. Allied health services such as clinical nutrition, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech language pathology, respiratory therapy and social worker are shared with Lions Manor Nursing Home and other sites., if required. The pharmacy service is provided from the regional department at CGH. The rural avalon regional laundry service is also operated from this site. 10 inpatient beds, including a palliative care room.Pastoral Care Services.Quiet Room available for family/visitors.24 hour emergency care, with three observation beds.Full laboratory and diagnostic services, including ultrasound service.Family practice clinics – Monday to Friday (with four staff physicians, nurse practitioner and nursing staff)Ambulatory care services, include EKG, Holter Monitoring, Blood Pressure Monitoring, Intravenous Medications, Foot Care.Diabetes Education Program.Hair Care Services (Monday to Friday)Lions Manor Nursing Home is a 75 long-term care bed facility which is a part of Placentia Health Centre. Location The Placentia Health Centre is located in Placentia, accessible off the Highway 100. Admission Patients for planned admission should arrive at the Health Records Department by 2:00 p.m. Please bring your MCP card, your Hospital Red Card (if you have one) with you. Rooms are assigned by the Admitting Clerk/Nurse. A limited number of private rooms are available. Requests for private or semi-private accommodations should be directed to the Admitting Clerk/Nurse. When patients request these accommodations, they will be charged a rate determined by the Provincial Government. Visiting Hours:Only TWO visitors at a time 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Children under fourteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult and limit their visit to 20 minutes. Meals Breakfast, dinner and supper and any required snacks are provided daily. The dietary staff offer great tasting regular, diabetic and healthy heart diets using highly nutritional recipes. Dietary staff follow the guidelines ordered by the Dietitian or physician. In the case a patient dislikes the choice offered, the dietary staff will substitute another meal as requested by the patient or nursing staff. A dietitian may visit you and your family to provide information on how your eating habits can improve your medical condition. Education may be given on appropriate food choices and cooking methods.
