The following policies apply to all Eastern Health sites:

Consent

• Consent is required on admission for all treatment, blood transfusions and other special procedures, as required.

Privacy and Confidentiality

• Eastern Health respects your right to confidential care.  We will only discuss your care with those who have a right to know about it.  If there is information you want to keep private, please let the admitting clerk or your nurse know about it as soon as you arrive. 
• We want to ensure that information about your health is only revealed to those people you want to receive it.  We suggest that you arrange for only one or two people who can call to receive information about your condition.  Ask your friends and family to call those contacts.

Latex

• Latex is found in rubber products and can cause severe allergic reactions in some people. 
• Rubber balloons are not permitted in any of our hospitals.  Only mylar (metallic) balloons are permitted.
• If you have a latex allergy, it is important that you inform us in advance of your stay.  Special arrangements will have to be made for your surgical procedure and hospital care. 

• Perfume
• Hair spray 
• Powder 
• Deodorant
• Lotion
• Shampoo/Conditioner
• Aftershave 

Other substances that can cause an allergic reaction and that must not be brought into our facilities include:

• Lilies
• Poinsettias
• Air fresheners

Smoke Free

• We are pleased to offer a smoke-free environment. 
• Smoking is not allowed in any entranceway. There are designated areas outside the facilities.

Identification Bracelet

• It is important that you wear your ID bracelet at all times.  If the bracelet becomes lost or damaged, inform your nurse or a member of your health care team.
• If you have allergies, you will be given an allergy bracelet as well.
