Grief and Bereavement Services
Grief and Bereavement Services at Eastern Health provides care for people who are experiencing loss or anticipated loss due to their death or the death of a loved one.
Our services provide individual and group support to people requiring grief and bereavement care through counselling, education sessions and information materials.
Grief and Bereavement Services collaborates with several departments and programs of Eastern Health and with community agencies, such as:
Palliative Care Services
Pastoral Care and Ethics
Janeway Family Centre
Mental Health and Addictions
Cancer Care
Long-Term Care Program
Community and supportive services which include medical clinics, senior's resource groups,
private health care clinicians, faith groups, etc.
Specialty Services
Our office also offers focused grief and bereavement services in the following areas:
Children, youth and families
‘Shut-ins’ for people who have limited mobility or limited resources to be able to access Bereavement Services at one of the Eastern Health facilities.
Mental health and addictions
Individuals experiencing spirituality struggles
Perinatal bereavement
(the bereavement felt by parents and families who have experienced the loss of newborn infants, or whose infants have not survived to full term)
