Organ and Tissue Donation saves Lives!

For many people, organ/tissue transplant provides a new beginning. As you read this, there are people in Newfoundland and Labrador waiting for a transplant – in fact they are among the 4,000 Canadians who wait for this often live-saving procedure every year.

The reality is that some will die waiting. In a province where we are all connected, where everyone knows everyone, it could be someone you know. It could be you.

As one mother says about the gift of life that saved her son, “We all have the ability to make an impact - simply by signing an organ donor card and making your wishes known to your family.  Although we know nothing of our donor or his/her family, they hold a special place within our family and we hope and pray that they find comfort in the fact that other lives were changed so remarkably by their amazing gift.”
