2018-19
The 2018-19 fiscal year marked the completion of the second year of Eastern Health’s Strategic Plan 2017-20, Lighting the Way: Navigating Together. At the 2018-19 AGM, presentations were made by Leslie O’Reilly, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and David Diamond, President and CEO.
Chronic Conditions Fewer patients are remaining in the hospital after they no longer need the intensity of services provided in the hospital setting. Since 2014-15, Eastern Health has decreased the number of patients that are not being cared for in the most appropriate setting.
Mental Health and Addictions Access to community Mental Health and Addictions services is improving with more patients being seen sooner.
Outpatients Child Psychiatry Access to outpatient child psychiatry improved with more patients being seen sooner.
Experience of Care Eastern Health is soliciting feedback from clients through our Experience of Care survey and using this feedback to improve the quality of care we provide. 93.3 per cent of respondents reported overall satisfaction with their care and services from the Child Health Clinic.
Clean Facilities In 2018-19, Experience of Care surveys were administered to the Emergency Department and Child Health Clinic to measure for cleanliness. Both programs received positive responses from clients on questions related to cleanliness.
Cancer Screening Participation rate in the Newfoundland and Labrador Colon Cancer Screening Program for individuals who are 50-74 years of age and at average risk of colorectal cancer continues to increase.
Breastfeeding The rate of babies being exclusively breastfed until six months of age has significantly increased since 2014-15.
