He came to Eastern Health from the Alberta Health Services where he served from 2008 to 2014 in various roles including Chief External Relations Officer, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Senior Vice President of Regional Hospitals, and Regional Liaison assisting with the transition from regional authorities to Alberta Health Services. Previous to joining Alberta Health Services, he was the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for Suburban and Rural Communities for Capital Health, Edmonton from 2006 to 2008.
Mr. Diamond was also the founding Chief Executive Office at Central Health in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, one of the four regional health authorities (RHAs) formed in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2005, and the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Human Resources with the Central West Health Authority from 1995 to 2005. Mr. Diamond began his career at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in 1987 as Assistant Director of Human Resources following which he was appointed Director of Human Resources.
He holds a Master in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) from Memorial University in St. John’s, NL. Mr. Diamond also has a professional affiliation with the Canadian College of Health Leaders. His earlier positions included Chair, Canadian Hospitals Network International, an international healthcare management company with projects in the Middle East and United Kingdom; President and Chief Executive Officer, Interhealth Canada Ltd.; and Chief Executive Officer, Shaikh Khalifa Medical Center in Abu Dhabi. Mr. O’Keefe also worked as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ontario’s Workplace Safety & Insurance Board; Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, The Toronto Hospital (University Health Network); Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Ottawa Civic Hospital; President and Chief Executive Officer, York-Finch General Hospital, Toronto; and, Chief Executive Officer, responsible for four Ontario Provincial Psychiatric Hospitals. Early in his career he was Assistant Executive Director at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s. His professional activities include having served as Director, Toronto Central LHN; Surveyor, Canadian Council on Health Facilities Association; Chairman of the Board, Canadian Business Council, Abu Dhabi, UAE; and, Director, Ontario Hospital Association. Mr. O’Keefe holds a Master of Hospital Administration from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Commerce from St. Mary’s University, Halifax.
