Consent

• Consent is required on admission for all treatment, blood transfusions and other special procedures, as required.

           Latex

• Latex is found in rubber products and can cause severe allergic reactions in some people. 
• Rubber balloons are not permitted in any of our hospitals.  Only mylar (metallic) balloons are permitted.
• If you have a latex allergy, it is important that you inform us in advance of your stay.  Special arrangements will have to be made for your surgical procedure and hospital care.

          Scent Free

To provide a safe and healthy setting for our patients, staff and visitors, all facilities of Eastern Health are scent free.  Visitors, patients and staff must not come to our facilities wearing scented products.  Fragrance or scent can be found in products like: 

• Perfume
• Hair spray 
• Powder 
• Deodorant
• Lotion
• Shampoo/Conditioner
• Aftershave 

Other substances that can cause an allergic reaction and that must not be brought into our facilities include:

• Lilies
• Poinsettias
• Air fresheners

It is the policy of Eastern Health to provide a tobacco and smoke free workplace and environment. Eastern Health prohibits the use of all tobacco products on properties owned and leased by Eastern Health, including the buildings, grounds and parking lots (including all vehicles parked therein). The policy applies to all employees, physicians, clients, patients, residents, visitors, students, volunteers, outside user groups and all other agents of Eastern Health. All must comply with the Smoke Free Environment Policy and have a shared responsibility for supporting the policy.
